LUCILLE GARTON - DCARR - OBIT -- Posted by Linda on Friday, December 23 2011
LUCILLE GARTON -DCARR -OBIT -- Posted by Linda on Friday, December 23 2011 I had just read the UA SKYNET OBIT'S from Oct and ran across Lucy's name...Sent out the message thru Sharlene Aukofer because she has a big list from the DCARR/IADRR group and then got a message from Beth Goins who sent me the obit. What great team work, as always Sharlene had remembered that Lucy was a professional Clown. That jarred my memory of seeing her all dressed in her Clown outfit. She was such a serious and proper lady - so that was was a complete shocker that she enjoyed the clown aspect. What a great lady....Truly glad she was a part of our lives.... Linda

COMMENTS FROM A COUPLE OF RES PEOPLE: When it came to trades, they were both there for us. Such nice ladies. FROM - HOLLY
All I know is that Helen worked my first Christmas for me
at UAL. Being a newbie I was scheduled to work and I posted
a request on the bulletin board for a trade and Helen came forward.
Bless her, I believed she died several years ago.
All I know about Lucille is, I think she was a clown, really,
a full blown licenced clown. I was always envious of that.
Sharlene
Farewell Lucy and Helen --- it was great having you in our lives.

EDWARD POWELL "POWELL" WILLIAMS SR.
WILLIAMS EDWARD POWELL WILLIAMS, SR. "Powell" (Age 70) Of Burke, VA passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 16, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Powell's passing comes after a courageous battle with leukemia. His complete faith and trust in God sustained him. He never wavered in his belief that God was holding his hand and comforting him throughout his illness. Powell was born in Columbus, Georgia on October 28, 1940 to Romelle and Brown Williams. He attended high school at Columbus High and went onto complete four years of college at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. It was there that he met and fell in love with his late wife, Elizabeth "Beth" Felton Williams. After he graduated from Emory, he enlisted in the United States Navy to become a naval aviator. Upon his discharge from the Navy, he accepted a position as a pilot for United Airlines and moved to Fairfax, Virginia, where he would reside for over 40 years. Powell has touched so many lives because of his commitment to Christ. Time and again, stories are shared of how he guided people to their faith. His powerful witness transformed so many lives, especially members and former members of his beloved congregation at St. Stephens United Methodist Church in Burke, VA. Powell has lived with his children in Apex, NC and Charlotte, NC while treating his leukemia, and in that time deeply missed serving Christ along with his St. Stephens brothers and sisters. Powell is survived by his children Lisa Jonczyk and her husband Greg; Powell Williams, Jr. and his wife Jodie; and Allison Tibe and her husband John, along with his adored grandchildren, Emily, Greyson, Lucy, Ian, Megan, John, Brett and Kacie. Powell is also survived by his nieces and nephew Sandy Ellingson, Fred Williams and Pam Getkin and their loving families. Powell felt so fortunate that just before he passed away, he spent two glorious final weeks with all of his family at Lake Tillery, NC, where he was able to be young and vibrant, driving the boat and pulling skiers, his version of heaven on earth. The family offers our deepest gratitude to all of the doctors and staff at Duke University and Presbyterian Hospital for their compassionate and loving care throughout Powell's illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Stephens Preschool, memo: "Gordon-Williams Scholarship Fund," 9203 Braddock Road, Burke, VA 22015 or to the Humane Society at www.humanesociety.org. Visitation for family and friends will be from 2 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at St. Stephens United Methodist Church, 9203 Braddock Road, Burke, VA 22015. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 25, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St. Stephens UMC, as well. Condolences to the family of Capt. Powell Williams may be addressed to his daughter Allison.
